The two-day workshop was jointly organized by IAE & CREI with support from the BarcelonaGraduate School of Economics & the CEPR. David de la Croix (U. Catholique de Louvain), Omar Licandro (IAE), and Hans-Joachim Voth (UPF) were the members of the scientific committee.

Ten contributions put forward the current state of research on key aspects for economic growth and economic history such as the transition from stagnation to growth; the Great Divergence;geography versus institutions; international trade and growth; technical progress versus human capital; health and demographics & social structure and the role of families.

The event brought together 19 academics and researchers from European and U.S. institutions. UPF faculty and Master & PhD students also attended.
